Why I Dropped Out of College
June 14, 2026
Everyone had an opinion the week I decided to leave. Most of them were some polite version of "are you insane?"
The honest answer was: probably a little.
The decision
I wasn't running away from something. I was running toward a problem I couldn't stop thinking about. Every lecture felt like a browser tab I'd left open while my real work waited in another window.
So one Thursday I closed the laptop, walked to the registrar, and made it official.
What nobody tells you
- The freedom is real, and so is the terror.
- No one hands you a syllabus for the rest of your life.
- The people who doubted you are quietly rooting for you anyway.
A degree is a receipt. It proves you paid. It doesn't prove you learned.
Would I do it again? Yes. But I'd be a lot kinder to the version of me who was scared for the first six months.
